Isuzu Dominates 2020 Truck Sales

If you’ve postponed your truck purchase, anticipating insights from others regarding their brand choices, your wait has come to an end. The 2020 truck sales data has been compiled. In a year marked by the adverse impacts of the coronavirus pandemic, which brought about challenges for many, there was a slightly over 9% decline in total sales for 2020 when compared to the figures from 2019. Notably, the sales figures for December 2020 were robust. While the majority of truck manufacturers experienced a decrease in sales compared to 2019, there were instances of growth for some manufacturers.

For the entire commercial vehicle sector in Australia for 2020 sales, Isuzu came out on top, followed by Hino, Fuso, Kenworth, Volvo, IVECO, Mercedes-Benz, Scania, Mack and UD Trucks rounding out the top 10.

Of the top 10, only Fuso recorded a slight increase on 2019 figures.

The heavy duty category was hard hit through 2020 with an overall decreases in total sales of 16.6% on the 2019 data. DAF and UD Trucks were the only brands to show growth in 2020. The top selling manufacturer was Kenworth, followed by Volvo, Isuzu, Mercedes-Benz and Scania.

In the medium duty category which did show better sales than other sectors, Isuzu took the top spot followed by Hino, Fuso, MAN and IVECO. In the light duty market it was again Isuzu out-selling the market with Hino next, followed by Fuso, IVECO and Fiat.

So there is the data for 2020 and no doubt something for potential buyers to consider. With the Brisbane Truck Show coming up early in 2021, it would be expected that the leading brands will be looking for good attendance to showcase their models and write order.

If you’re planning to attend the show, don’t forget to speak with Jade Truck Loans prior to attending to arrange a pre-approved truck loan so you can confidently place your order. The scenario is encouraging for new buyers with interest rates still at record lows and the temporary full expensing measure for eligible businesses and eligible assets in play for financial years 20/21 and 21/22.

New Release from Isuzu

As if on cue to commemorate its top selling spot, in mid- January, Isuzu announced a limited time offer on a new Freightpack Urban model. This is a new addition to the very popular ready to work series and offers the 10 pallet at under $100,000 for a limited time. (Check official pricing with your dealer). To see how that relates to possible repayments on a Jade truck loan, refer to our truck loan interest rate comparison chart for the different types of loans, select the loan type you want and see possible repayments. You can also enter that interest rate into our loan calculator and work repayments with a balloon/residual.

While the special offer pricing applies to the 10 pallet model, it's important to note that within this range, there are a total of 5 models available, each offering varying capacities of 10, 12, and 14 pallets. The inclusion of user-friendly sliding curtains streamlines the loading and unloading process, particularly at the dock. The Freightpack model is equipped with a range of fuel efficiency and safety features, enhancing its overall value.

For buyers seeking a swift transition to work without the hassle of dealing with separate units, this is an excellent choice. It's not only convenient but also competitively priced, and it comes from a highly regarded and top-selling brand.

Furthermore, Isuzu's ready-to-work lineup extends to include additional models such as the Tradepack, Servicepack, Traypack, Vanpack, and Tippers. These models are all pre-configured and prepared to go to work for you immediately. All that remains is securing a cost-effective truck finance deal, and Jade is well-prepared to assist you in achieving that goal.
